Frequently Asked Questions
Many brides have similar questions and concerns when considering custom correspondence for their wedding. Here we have addressed many of these. However, please do not hesitate to ask any other which may come to mind. We want to make sure the process is comfortable and easy for you.
What is Event Design/Branding?
Event Design/Branding is different from Event Planning in that we do not negotiate vendor contracts, set budgets, or coordinate timelines. We create the look and feel of your event, to create an overall cohesive experience for your guests. Through the use of color, motif and continuity, your guests will come away from your wedding with beatiful memories of the total event. If you also wish to work with a planner, we will gladly partner with her/him to create the event of your dreams.
Are Custom Designed Correspondence Pieces Expensive?
It depends. They certainly don't have to be, and it is a common misconception that they always are. Through careful paper selection and use, custom pieces can have a cost similar to, and sometimes even less than, the catalogs. They can also be as elaborate and embellished as you desire. The choice is yours, and that drives the overall cost. The added benefit either way is that you get an expert singularly dedicated to making your correspondence pieces exactly what you want them to be, rather than settling for colors that are 'close' and designs that will 'work'. Don't settle. Make it Truly Yours.
How Much Time Does it Take?
We typically prefer a six-week time period for design and production. The process can be made to go more quickly when necessary, but having the extra time to really consider your options is always best. We like to plan about four weeks for the design phase, and two for printing and production. The best time to contact us, then, is at least two months from your desired mailing date, or four months from the wedding date. Earlier is always better, as deciding some aspects of your correspondence suite early-on can inform and direct decisions you make about other aspects of your wedding later. Then, you can be sure your entire wedding will be Truly Yours.
What Are My Options?
Your options are, literally, endless. We have access to so many different papers, ribbons, decorations, inks, and more, and you can choose to combine them in so many different ways, that every correspondence package can be completely unique. That's the beauty of custom correspondence; it can always be Truly Yours.
But, I Really Want to Print Them Myself. Can You Just Create A Great Layout For Me?
Yes. We'd be happy to work with you on the design of your invitation only. However, be aware that many home printers are not truly up to the task of printing beautiful correspondence pieces. Often times, the papers you choose will be difficult to run, or will become smudged going through because of their finish or thickness, or print crooked... not to mention the trouble of running out of ink, having to buy extra paper to cover mistakes... printing your own takes a great deal more time, and often, a greater financial investment, than anticipated.
I Bought Print-Your-Own Stock, And Now I Can't Get Them to Print! Can You Help?
Yes. We have worked with many brides in your situation. Often the only solution will be to put them on a press, as most high-speed copiers will not run small or non-standard pieces, and laser printers will almost always seal envelopes shut. We can help you save that pre-purchased stock. Call us for a printing-only quote to salvage your existing investment.
Can You Create a Custom Monogram or Personal Logo For Us?
Yes. Many of our custom correspondence packages will include a basic one of these at no additional cost. Should you desire a monogram or logo that is more elaborate, or independent of a correspondence package, we can do that, too. Please contact us for a quote.
How Can I Save Money on My Custom Correspondence Package?
As mentioned above, careful paper selection and use is one way to save money. Making sure your pieces fit easily on standard-size sheets prevent having to purchase more expensive oversize sheets of paper. Be aware that using any kind of 'pocket' adds significantly to the cost. Additionally, with us, you always have the option to do your own assembly. We will put one together completely for you as an example, and give you complete instructions on how to assemble the rest, including adhesive recommendations. We're also available to help you, should you run into any challenges.
Will I Get to See A Complete Sample Before Giving My Final OK To Print?
Yes. We will assemble a mock-up for you, which will use all the actual papers and embellishments your final package will feature. The only difference will be that any part which is to be printed on a press will be a laser print-out. This means the overall look will be almost identical, but some of the printed colors may not be exact.
